Activities

The location of the Studio makes it ideal for those wanting either a relaxing beach holiday, or as a base to explore the whole of Cornwall. For those wanting a more challenging activity holiday, there are walking, cycling, sailing, surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, golf and horse riding opportunities all available close by.

Surfing

Perranporth beach has become renowned as one of the best surfing locations in Cornwall. The surfing origins at Perranporth go back to the 1920s when a local undertaker provide 'coffin lids' for use as surfboards, indeed some locals still prefer to use flat wooden surfboards. There are numerous surfing and surf hire shops in the town offering equipment for hire and also surf lessons for all ages and abilities.

In 1957 Perranporth Surf Life Saving Club was formed. This successful organisation has promoted beach safety and encouraged generations of youngsters in swimming and surfing qualifications. Its headquarters can be seen on the beach and is the base for the RNLI lifeguards who patrol Perranporth and Perran Sands beaches.

The beach also offers opportunities for kite surfing and sand yachting.

There is a lively music scene on the beach with bands performing most weekends at the Watering Hole, a popular pub right on the beach.

The annual Perranporth Extreme Surf Triathlon is held every September.
